Important notices regarding proposed federal pension amendments, Bill C-27

Please read these two posts which describe a bill going into second reading which proposes to amend the Pension Benefit Standards Act of 1985 for federally regulated pensions. As the backgrounder describes, it could convert “…non-guaranteed, conditional pension benefits.” While our pensions are provincially mandated, as the notices point out, “…if passed, it will form a foothold to start weakening all provincially regulated pension plans.” This is important legislation as the notices describe very clearly.

This will be a topic at  our AGM meeting, Nov 15, 2017
